FINALLY - - A REAL - - AN AUTOMATED - - AN INTEGRATED, BANNER AD EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR NING NETWORKS! And, it’s HERE on the Ning Directory!

You can exchange Banner Ads (not badges, but real ads), with other Ning Networks. It’s AUTOMATED and INTEGRATED with the Ning Directory. This could very well get you more exposure than any other program you’ve tried, and it’s FREE! No back and forth emails trying to make arrangements with 1 or 2 Network Creators, to exchange Ning Network Badges or Links. You are automatically sharing with everyone who participates in the Banner Exchange Program. This is specifically for Ning Networks. No other ads will be accepted.

The program is very simple. You add your Banner Ad by providing your Banner Ad Image URL, and entering your Ning Network Address (URL). Then, Copy/Paste the Banner Exchange Code to your Network, and you’re done! All Banner Ads for Banner Ad Exchange members will rotate on each Network (where Banner Exchange code is installed).

ADS MUST BE 159 BY 159, OR THE SAME PROPORTIONS.

QUICK OVERVIEW:

• 1 banner allowed per unique Ning Directory Member Account.
• If you want to add more than 1 Ning Network, you will need to create a new member account on the Ning Directory. AND, you must use a different unique Ning ID or email address.
• Banner Ad Images must be 159 pixels wide by 159 pixels in height (or the same proportions).
• As in most Banner Ad Exchange programs, you will need a URL location for your image. In other words, your image must be stored on a server somewhere.
• If your Profile Photo represents your Ning Network, you can use it. It is 183 by 183 and will resize appropriately. See Details below, in Option A:
• After you ad your banner ad via the Banner Exchange Program link, copy the Banner Exchange code, and paste into a text box on your Ning Network.
• All Banner Ads for Banner Ad Exchange members will rotate on each Network (where Banner Exchange code is installed).
• YOU WILL NOT SEE YOUR AD ON YOUR SITE. And you will see the Ning Directory Ad often - - until we have an adequate number of members, for rotations (based on impressions).  This is how all exchange programs function.

Step-By-Step Instructions for the Ning Directory Banner Exchange Program:

1. ADD YOUR BANNER:

• Click on the Banner Exchange Program Link
• Click on Add Banner.
• Next to Site URL: Enter your Ning Network address.
• Next to Banner URL: Enter your Banner Ad Location (159 by 159) URL Address.
• Click on Submit.
• You can edit or change your ad anytime. (must be approved)

2. GET BANNER EXCHANGE CODE TO DISPLAY ON YOUR NETWORK:

• Click on Banner Exchange Program Link, or REFRESH screen.
• Click on Manage My Banner.
• Select Display HTML code.
• Select All, Copy, and Paste the banner ad code to a text box on your Ning Network. It will fit perfectly in a text box in the right column. Or, you can insert anywhere.
• If you have S4N text boxes, you can add there. Just change occurrences of double quotes to single quotes.

That’s it! You have now added your banner ad and link, to exchange with all members of the banner exchange program! All Banner Ads must be approved before displaying. Only Ning Network Creators and Ning Directory members can exchange banner ads.

As in most banner ad exchange programs, the banner ads will cycle based on number of impressions (page views) made on your sites. ~ YOU WILL NOT SEE YOUR AD ON YOUR SITE. And you will see the Ning Directory Ad often - - until we have an adequate number of members, for rotations (based on impressions).  This is how all exchange programs function.

• Banner ad image must be stored on a server, not uploaded. The Banner Exchange Program asks you for the URL or location of your image.

ONLY FOR MEMBERS WHO NEED ASSISTANCE WITH IMAGES OR IMAGE URLS:

OPTION A - USE YOUR MEMBER PROFILE PHOTO/LOGO:

• If you have a Profile Photo/Logo image that represents your Ning Network, you can use it. It is 183 by 183 and will resize appropriately.
• If you choose to use your Profile Photo, you can even use the Profile Photo/Logo URL location.
  • Go to your page here - - right-click on Profile Photo, Go to Properties, copy the image Address (URL) to insert into the Banner Exchange program. This is a little tricky in IE. You must "Select All" within the Address (URL) field. JUST, click anywhere in the field and THEN right-click to select all. After you paste the URL, be sure to remove all code to the right of the file type (example .png or .jpg)
  • Just remember: if you change your Profile Photo/Logo on the Directory, it will also change in the Banner Exchange program.

OPTION B - CREATE A CUSTOM BANNER WITH ONLINE BANNER MAKER:

• If you are not familiar with using URLs for your images or ads or creating images, you can create a banner at: http://www.bannerfans.com/banner_maker.php
• You must create a custom size, 159 wide and 159 tall.
• After you create, you can get your code for MySpace or Ning type networks. For the Banner Exchange Program on the Ning Directory, copy the Code for direct image link:
• The direct image link is the image file location you will copy, to insert into the Banner Exchange Program.

OPTION C - CREATE WITH YOUR SOFTWARE AND UPLOAD TO YOUR NETWORK SERVER:

• Create your Banner Ad with your design software, or by using the banner maker above. Make Banner Ad size 159 pixels wide and 159 pixels in height.
• Follow the WebDav instructions on Ning, to access your Network File Folders: http://developer.ning.com/notes/Accessing_Source_Code_with_WebDav
• Create a new folder to store your images in, like custom_images -- or whatever you want to name the new folder.
• Upload your banner image to new folder.
• Use the URL http://yournetwork.ning.com/newfolder/bannerimage.jpg or .png or .gif, for the Banner Ad Exchange Program.
